Xbox 360 Error Codes – Get Over Your Xbox Error

At which point you’ve been hammering away on your Xbox 360 for the last 5 hours with your best game of Halo 4 and all of a sudden you get some sort of xbox error or error code. The first thing that goes through your mind is, oh my gosh, this is going to be expensive. In fact, this is not necessarily true.

Basically, with any failure on your Xbox 360, you’ll get a pattern of lights on the front of the console. You already know the lights, which you probably haven’t paid much attention to until now, since they are usually green. Well, there are four lights on this LED ring. As I said these under normal conditions will be green. With certain failures, in any number of sequences, the sequences will turn red and certain sequences will generate xbox error codes.

Ok first off nice and easy all four lights are red. This is just your Xbox telling you that it can’t detect an AV cable. So just check your connection or try removing and reseating the AV cable. If all else fails in this case and cleaning the cable doesn’t fix the lights, then you’ll need a new cable.

A flashing red light always comes with an Xbox error code. It is a hardware failure and the associated error code will tell you your problem. For example, E64 is a DVD drive error, E67 is a hard drive error, etc.

Two flashing lights is xbox overheating error, this can cause the console to crash or freeze for a certain period of time. (Try to remember that if your console crashes at a certain point in a game, it’s more likely a problem with the game.) Well, what are you doing here? Let the console cool down and you should be good to go again. Try to prevent this from happening by making sure all the vents around the xbox are clear. The xbox is on a firm base with airflow underneath.

If you have three flashing sections in the ring of lights, this is a problem. This means that you have a hardware failure. Now there are a couple of things you can try. First off, the good old reboot. Try turning the console off and back on. If this doesn’t fix the problem, you could be in some trouble, especially if you don’t have a warranty (which, by the way, Microsoft has extended to 3 years).

The problem here is that even if you’re covered under warranty, you’ll have to return the Xbox to Microsoft for repair and this can take up to three months. If it’s out of warranty, it’ll cost you $150 too. Yikes.

Are there other options? Well, actually there are. You could fix xbox error yourself. It is not as difficult as it may seem at first glance. You will only need some very basic tools, a bit of patience and a good xbox error fix guide. The guide is the most important part. You can find these guides by searching the Internet. I tried a couple before finding one that really helped me. Some come with video instructions that are really helpful.
