Portland: the most environmentally friendly city

Portland, located in the northwestern US, is one of the main cities in the state of Oregon. As one of the most densely inhabited states in America, it has an estimated population of 582,200. In fact, the city is the most populous place in the state and also one of the busiest cities in the Pacific Northwest after British Columbia, Canada, Washington, and Vancouver.

Portland was integrated around the 1850s as the capital city of Multnomah County. Portland continues slightly into Clackamas County to the south and Washington County to the west. The mayor controls the city government supported by a couple of additional commissioners.

Interestingly, Portland is among the cleanest and greenest metropolises in the world. This eco-friendly city is known for its strong land area planning and light rail companies. The city has a typical regional government and is popular for its coffee-loving people with many distilleries and breweries around the city. The NBA Trail Blazers team hails from the city of Portland.

The temperature of this place is quite warm characterized by arid summers, rains and a moderate winter climate. The environment of the area is the most conducive to rose vegetation. The City of Roses is famous for its many rose gardens, including the International Rose Test Garden in Washington Park.

There are many places to shop in the city. Shoppers often hang out in downtown Portland, Lloyd District, Nob Hill, and Pearl District, etc. The main departmental warehouses in the business district are The Macy’s, Mario, and Nordstrom. Bridgeport Village, Pioneer Place and the Vancouver Mall are the largest shopping centers in the area. The Portland Saturday Market reflects the myriad traditions of the city. The bazaar has a variety of products and handicrafts, including from Tibetan artisans. This souk is open on weekends, from March to December.
