Wherever the television is, decorate the room.

As if it were a college campus home football game, decorate in team colors with lots of balloons and streamers. If you have soccer jerseys, helmets, soccer balls (borrow from your kids and their friends), and if you plan on having soccer parties again, think about investing in some soccer or cheer decorations.

Touchdown and Foul Awards

This will amuse your guests throughout the game… you can ask family, friends, neighbors and collect strange gifts, even strange, white elephant type. I bet if you look in your own drawers, closets, kids room, garage, maybe even the garden or tool shed, you’ll find stuff; see a garage sale, stop by and take advantage of the opportunity. Place items individually in team-color lunch bags and tie with team-color curly ribbons; This festive look also colors your room and/or table. You’ll NO You’ll need a lot of items if you put each guest’s name on a ‘football cap’ and decide when a name will be drawn for a specific event, such as a touchdown, yardage, fouls, no score in a quarter, etc. The selected name collects a prize bag.

jumping activities

Ask each guest to select one of two teams and root for that team throughout the game – hooray for the good stuff, hooting for the bad!

Landing and Extra Point
Guests supporting that team must get up from their chair and hoot, dance, make noise.

personal fouls
Guests cheering for the team whose player(s) have a personal crowd must stand up and shake hands or kiss guests from the opposing team.

grill food
Make it easy on yourself, especially if you plan on doing this multiple times in a season. Provide the food or ask your guests to make a potluck; Almost everyone loves potlucks and this saves on the budget as well as your time in the kitchen. Provide paper plates, napkins, cups in team colors.

Special note on alcoholic beverages:

Whether you provide alcoholic beverages or have your guests bring their own, be responsible and don’t let anyone drive you home if you’ve had too much to drink.

First…Second Quarters

Provide chips, dip, fresh vegetables, crackers, and cheese in the TV party room so guests can snack during the first and second trimesters.

Halftime

Let the grill party begin. Keep it simple if you’re making the entire buffet yourself: hot dogs, mustard, relish, sauerkraut, ketchup, cold cuts or fresh baked beans, and macaroni salad, nachos, chili. Ask your guests if they are following a diet or food program so that they or you can provide more nutritious foods to support them.

Third Quarter and Fourth Quarter

This is a good time for dessert. Provide cupcakes to avoid having to cut and serve. If it’s a shared meal, let the elections begin!

The day is over, the game is over

Reality returns, it’s time to say goodbye to your guests and clean up. It was fun and you made it memorable.
