Pulsar launches RS200 and Pulsar AS!

If you are a bike lover, there is no doubt that you have heard about Bajaj’s new Pulsar releases this year. Sportbike enthusiasts across the country have been waiting with bated breath for the release of the Pulsar RS200 ever since the first images of the sportbike were released. That’s not the only bike to have been released from the Bajaj garage, the Pulsar AS 200 was highly anticipated as well. Both bikes were designed to bring out the adventure biker in you and see what it’s all about!

styling and design

First of all, let’s be very honest here: both bikes have some impressive design to brag about. There certainly haven’t been too many motorcycles in India that can match the RS200 design, impressive though it is. Almost giving you the look of a street racing bike that creates a feeling of aerodynamics. The front twin beams stand out and have to be the prominent feature in the design together with the raised rear seat to give a pure sporty design to the rear tire.

The AS 200, on the other hand, has retained much of the conventional Pulsar design with its domed front body and recognizable Pulsar fuel tank. Not much patching has been done with a tried and tested formula, but the retained design is still very attractive.

engine specifications

If you’re coming up with a new bike launch, this has to be the most exciting part. The RS200 and AS200 house a very similar engine in most departments. While both displace 200CCs, the RS 200 has 24.5 BHP @ 9750 RPM compared to the 23.5 BHP @ 9000 produced by the AS200. Both are 4-strokes and are also liquid cooled. When compared in the 0-60 throttle column, the RS200 makes the cut at 3 seconds, while the AS200 does it at 3.6 seconds. The power that the RS200 generates is even more attractive when you consider that it weighs in at 165kg compared to the last 145kg.

Frame

The chassis of these two bikes is almost identical with the only permanent difference being the front brakes that are attached. The RS200 comes with single channel ABS and a 300mm diameter disc, the AS200 front brake is powered by a 280mm disc. When it comes to dimensions, the RS200 is much more compact at 1999mm long and also offers less ground clearance. That is evident when you use a very sporty look for the bike.

Prices and mileage

There is a significant difference in the pricing approach of both two-wheelers in India. The RS200 is priced at 1,32,000/- while the AS200 is priced at Rs 91,550/- (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The RS200 is priced higher, but it does meet the cost for sure. It is a completely different package to the AS200 and is for a very stylish rider. The AS200, on the other hand, is a more affordable commuter bike that could be a hit with riders graduating from the Pulsar 150. The RS200 also gives 45 mileage compared to the AS200’s 40.

In the end, it depends on the type of cyclist you are and what you want from your bike. If getting everyone’s attention is on the agenda with a bit more budget – RS200 is definitely the choice just for the amazing looks it has brought to Indian roads, there is no other motorcycle in the Indian market that can boast it. It looks like this today!
