paper recycling

Environment refers to the interaction of soil, air, climate, and topography with the plants and animals in a given environment. The environment influences the behavior and survival of all living organisms, be they animals, plants, or humans. Any change in the environment causes changes in our biological development and in daily life. The environment has been subject to constant degradation over the last century. Ecologists and scientists have begun to investigate methods to save the environment from pollution, deforestation, and population explosion. One of the best solutions to protect the environment against pollution is recycling. A large number of waste products, such as glass, plastic, metal scrap, and paper waste, are usually recycled to prevent environmental pollution.

Paper recycling refers to the process of converting waste paper, which is considered post-consumer waste, and waste paper, which is considered pre-consumer waste, into usable products. Paper recycling involves separating fibers to form new sheets or burning waste paper to create a source of energy. The paper recycling process begins with the separation of the component paper fibers using water as the medium. A pulp suspension material is created from the process which is then cleaned to remove any non-fibrous contaminants. Some recycling processes may also require the fibers to be debonded with chemicals such as sodium hydroxide, followed by a peroxide bleaching phase to make the paper appear white. Finally, the clean, bleached fibers are blended with virgin fibers to make recycled paper. The recycling process uses less energy compared to creating new paper products from wood pulp and also reduces waste production.

Paper recycling is used to recycle different types of paper products, such as white office paper, corrugated cardboard, newspapers, waxed cartons, telephone books, and mixed papers. Paper products have become the largest components of solid waste, comprising 31 to 38 percent of the nation’s landfills. Paper recycling is one of the best ways to reprocess this type of waste paper. Recently, a large number of industries dedicated to producing recycled paper have emerged.
