NLP for business success modeling

The key goal of NLP is to model the excellence of others. Generally, when people are good at something, they are not aware of what they are doing that makes them good.

Most of the time people take the things they do well for granted. For example, I assume most of you are good at walking… but when was the last time you looked at your legs and praised your ability to walk, or analyzed what it is that allows you to walk with the unconscious fluidity you use?

modeling in NLP is about discovering what makes the difference between good and great results. A successful NLP model takes into account both what the subject is doing physically and what is going on inside their head. Some of these items would be absolutely vital and others might just be idiosyncratic and only apply to that particular person.

If we were to model a very persuasive person, the external model would be what they say. The internal model would be their beliefs and values ​​about what they are doing. In an NLP modeling studio, you would collect all the information through observation and interview and then start using it. Once they are comfortable with the model, they will start skipping parts and testing until they have just the core elements that make up success.

The same approach can be used to model an organization. Any company exhibits a collective behavior and this is based on the collective thoughts, values ​​and beliefs of the individuals that comprise it.

NLP modeling techniques will not make you Einstein, Bill Gates or a large multinational company. What it will give you is a way to analyze, record, and transfer the key elements of success in any skill or endeavor. It is simply a way of breaking through your own limitations and limits to become even better at the things you want to achieve, by systematically learning from those who are already proving to be successful.

Consider for a moment the value of being able to see inside the head of Bill Gates or Richard Branson and then be able to analyze their behavior and personality to get the answers to these questions and others that I am sure will occur to you:

  • What motivates you to create your success?
  • What keeps you going when things don’t go your way?
  • What do you believe about yourself and the world around you in order to create this success?
  • What specific behaviors do you exhibit to create this success?

Now imagine being able to do the same but with a successful organization.

You may have already noticed that only one of the questions above is about their behavior…actually what they do. The other questions have to do with what is going on inside their heads. This is because, in most circumstances, behavior follows thought. Let’s consider a simple example, take these two beliefs:

  • I could never be a millionaire
  • My destiny is to be a millionaire; I just need to make it happen

The person with the first belief may not make the effort or take the necessary steps to follow this path, but the second is likely always looking for an opportunity to move in this direction. Too simple an example, but I hope it makes it clear that inner thinking comes from outer behavior and is therefore much more powerful.

How does all this help create a successful business?

First let’s talk about individuals. Have you experienced or known people who have this experience? They know what to do to create success, or get it right, or get rid of the problem, but they continually repeat the same behavior and make the same mistakes. This is still because what goes on inside your head is the most powerful aspect of your behavior. So if you can align this with creating success, then your external behavior can be more easily modified to get the results.

Knowing what makes a salesperson, trainer, business manager successful in your company or industry gives you several advantages. First, you can search and recruit specifically for the right values ​​and beliefs, as well as skills and experience. Second, people can, through a variety of NLP techniques and related exercises, modify their own values ​​and beliefs to be more successful in their endeavors.

Second, by modeling successful businesses, you can gain insight into the collective beliefs and values ​​the business must have in order to be successful. Then, through organizational development, corporate communications, and key business statements, you can align your organization with these values ​​and beliefs.

As you can imagine, the ability to model in NLP is a very useful thing. In any good certified NLP training course, you will be shown how to model both individuals and organizations. But in the best NLP practitioner courses, you will be given a range of highly successful models to get you started. For example, you should exit the course with:

  • How to create and use specific ways of thinking for specific situations. For example, a driving mindset, a negotiation mindset, a presentation delivery mindset.
  • Massively accelerated learning ability, for example, reading speed. You should leave the course able to read around 1,000 words per minute, with better retention and comprehension than usual. As well as a strategy that with practice will easily double this speed.
  • Hypnotic persuasion and influence skills. Not just random linguistic patterns, but the process, strategy, and mindset that allow you to truly capture and guide the imagination.
