Hidradenitis Suppurativa – My Treatment and Cure

Hello everyone, I had hidradenitis suppurativa and my hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) was classified as stage 3. Stage 3 is the worst case of HS a person can have. The severity of my HS prevented me from doing normal things and crushed my social life. I was embarrassed to be in public. No matter how much I showered or how much deodorant or cologne I wore, I had extreme body odor. People avoided me and couldn’t stand to be around me. I couldn’t bear to be close to myself.

I have tried various methods that I have found by searching the internet and from various doctors. Most, in my opinion and experience, had no effect with this stage of HS. I have been through different surgeries and even radiation, none of which helped.

After so many methods I found what worked for me and as of now I am HS free.

Here is a list of hidradenitis suppurativa treatments that I have personally tried, along with the results of each.

Surgery:

One of the first hidradenitis suppurativa treatments I had was surgery to remove cysts/boils. This left me with horrible scars and no other effect on my hidradenitis suppurativa. About 3 weeks after surgery, they were coming back again. I would never have this type of surgery again.

Prescribed by the doctor:

Tetracycline – No effect. The doctor who prescribed it tried this because it is known for treating acne.

Vibramycin – No effect. Again, this is known to treat acne and is also known to be used for sexually transmitted diseases.

Clindamycin – No effect. I am not sure of the normal use of this medicine.

Dapsone – No effect. Mainly known for dermatitis uses.

Dynacin – No effect. Acne uses.

Prednisone – Helped reduce the size of boils and reduced swelling. There were no major effects that made it worth spending the rest of my life taking. (Not recommended for long-term use.)

Found on the Web:

Zinc – Reduced swelling and areas seemed to be a bit better.

Vitamin C – Seemed to help control it better, but still didn’t completely cure my HS.

Turmeric powder with burdock root – Another one that helped but not enough to stop my HS completely.

Emu Oil – The oil seemed to make things worse for me. The boils grew larger and oozed worse than ever. I’m told other people have had good luck with it. I surely didn’t.

Aloe – One site I read said to drink it. Another site said to rub fresh Aloe on the affected areas. I tried both. Neither one worked at all. Drinking it made many trips to the bathroom.

Black onion seeds: This seemed to decrease boils but not consistently.

Other methods I tried:

Antibacterial soap: Doesn’t have much of an effect other than helping with hygiene and odor issues.

Isopropyl alcohol: burns if the boils are open. There is no help to get rid of HS completely.

Tea tree oil: another recommendation from the forum. It had no effect on my HS.

Apple Cider Vinegar/Baking Soda – Tried this because other people have had good luck with it. I personally had no change.

Misc – Other vitamins and supplements. Natural therapies. Nothing that would make a significant change or difference.

Now for the hidradenitis suppurativa treatment that worked:

My diet: Although I was not severely overweight, I was still able to eat better and was able to lose 30-40 pounds.

T cell therapy: This method begins with a gluten-free diet. Once you’ve been on the diet for 14 days (to make sure you’re gluten-free), start taking the courses they provide. Consisting of capsules. The results weren’t overnight, but I was able to see them within a few days.

In conclusion: I am now completely free of hidradenitis suppurativa. I have not had any incidents or recurrences in the last 7 1/2 months. I never would have imagined that my life would be free of HS. Although I think HS made me a better and more grateful person overall, I am much happier with my life. I have friends who are not ashamed to be around me. People don’t avoid me due to body odor caused by leaking cysts/boils.

I hope this great success to anyone who reads this, try it, and it works for them. Always remember, you are not alone. The more people know about this disease, the more research can be done. I hope one day there will be a more stable treatment for hidradenitis suppurativa.
