Highline Lake State Park is right around the corner and offers additional summer recreation for everyone. They offer family favorites like; boating, swimming, bird watching, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, jet skiing, windsurfing, picnicking, and water skiing, just to name a few.
Don’t you want to get wet? This city is for you too. Grand Junction Motor Speedway is a fun stop that you can’t miss. Ride one of its many karts and compete with other members of your family on this winding and winding track that will leave everyone smiling. The track gives each driver a breakdown of their lap time, so if your family is competitive, this is for you. You are not a runner but you want to be outside so you must visit the Botanical Gardens. This is the home of the wonderful Butterfly House. This is a small paradise with butterflies and more than 600 exotic tropical plants from all over the world. Enjoy a quiet moment watching fish, looking for resident frogs, turtles or tree frogs, or watching a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis.
Planning your trip at a colder time of year? Grand Junction offers all the fun winter activities for non-hunters. With Powderhorn Mountain spitting in the distance, your family can go skiing, tubing, or just enjoying the snow. This mountain is full of resorts, lodging and shopping also for non-skiers.
Not a fan of the cold? This is still a family-centric hotspot in the city center, full of fun things to do while others are hunting moose. Grand Junction is known for its wonderful food, so why take your taste buds on a food tour? This tour will teach you about the history and culture of downtown Grand Junction while meeting some of the most popular chefs and restaurateurs in the city. Grand Junction food tours run every Saturday at 2:00 pm, but private tours can be booked if you’re not in town on a Saturday. He is not an enthusiast or a hunter, no problem. The downtown area is home to the Kannah Creek Brewing Company. Opened in 2005, Kannah Creek Brewing Company now has three independent breweries in the Grand Junction area where you can enjoy unique Colorado craft beers and all-American food. The good news is that their beers are made with the pure and pristine waters of Kannah Creek, which melt from the snow.
