The first thing to look for when choosing a video game rental club is to see if they offer games for your console. Not all companies support all consoles. So if you have a PS3, don’t join an online video game rental club that exclusively offers Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii games. This is especially important if you have a portable device (Nintendo DS, PSP, Nintendo Advanced, ETC.) because only a few support and have games for these consoles for rent.
The second thing to look for is the plans. Most video game rental companies have plans that range from one game at a time to three games at a time (although there are some that have four that are allowed at a time). So if you are a casual gamer, like you play every time you have free time and want to relax, then you should probably go for a cheaper deal and only get a plan that lets you play one game per month. If you’re more of an avid gamer, then a better service for you would be to allow two or three video games at a time (which of course will cost a bit more).
The third and final thing to look for is to see if they offer a free trial. Before you commit to any online video game rental company, you need to make sure that their service is for you. Sign up for a free trial, put some games up for submission and see how you like it. This is important for several reasons. If you sign up for a test for a Pennsylvania-based company and it’s located in California, it may take a few more days to get to you compared to one closer to your home, but then again, it could be cheaper. I recommend trying at least three rental services before committing to just one.
