Special school for children with mental retardation

Mental illnesses range from autism to cerebral palsy and Down syndrome. The problem can be diagnosed much later, when children start going to school. As they mature, they can be taught to live independently. However, the problem is more serious in some children, as 13 percent of them may score below 50 on the IQ level. These children may face difficulties while at school, at home, or in their community.

They play an important role in ensuring adequate treatment and rehabilitation as prison services are carried out. Initial medical tests are done to evaluate a child’s problems. Then an IQ assessment is done to classify the child into mild, moderate, deep, or severe levels.

Thereafter, based on your assessed ability, special education is provided. In addition, occupational therapy, speech therapy and physical therapy are carried out in conjunction with parallel vocational training in a special school for children with mental retardation.
