Models and body image

Women everywhere

Supermodels, celebrities, normal people, and even plastic surgery junkies are not happy with their bodies. Those who say they are happy still have at least one part of the body that they don’t like as much. For me they are my arms. At first glance, my arms look very shapely, but for some reason I can’t stretch them like most people. I discovered this in high school while I was in the pom-pom squad. Yes, I made the team but my arms were crazy. I discovered how to master the illusion that they are straight. I didn’t let this little obstacle stop me, it’s my point. Nothing should get in your way if you want it bad enough.

Size does not matter

When it comes to modeling, don’t starve to fit an image that you think will be more attractive to the modeling industry. Whether you are tall, short, small or full figure, there is a market for you. It doesn’t make sense and it doesn’t make any sense to go to that extreme. What usually happens is that most people reach their ideal weight and end up regaining all the weight and even more. It was not meant to be a size 2 and I agree with that. I’m a proud 6/8 and that hasn’t stopped me from modeling.

Delusions

In Hollywood it all depends on how you look. Most celebrities will not admit the drastic measures they have taken to stay slim. They would rather the public think they have it that way. Don’t believe the hype because they are doing all kinds of things behind closed doors that we don’t see. Hollywood has made being pregnant so attractive lately. Celebrities are losing baby weight faster than a speeding bullet. It’s not real! With access to tons of cash, nutritionists, trainers, and plastic surgeons, everything becomes possible.

Life is too short to worry about your weight. Don’t let this or anything else stop you from modeling if that’s what you want to do. Stay empowered because you are beautiful just the way you are.

Hats off to Brooklyn Decker, who recently opened up and talked a bit about her struggle with the weight. I think supermodels and celebrities owe it to the public to open up and be honest about their struggles with weight. In my opinion, he is a true role model. See the history of Brooklyn here
