Whether it’s medical transcription or graphic design, copywriting, or web design, the most important first step is identifying the skill you want to learn.
This seems obvious, but in reality it is an absolutely crucial point. Most people trying to make a living from home tend to jump from skill to skill, learning a little about everything but not mastering anything.
They are looking for something that looks easy. The truth is, there is a learning curve for almost any skill you would like to learn. The most important first step is choosing a skill and committing to learning it.
=> Search forums and books
Identify the top forums and books in your industry. In general, each group or community will have its recommended books more frequently. Buy all of these books and start studying their skill in depth.
Also, start reading the forums. At first, don’t participate. I just read. Examine what kinds of problems others are facing and what solutions they are finding.
Sort the forum by the topics with the most responses. These are usually the most useful threads. Read those posts by mail.

Instead of learning something theoretically, you will absorb the material much better if you are actually implementing what you learn.
For example, if you are learning graphic design, instead of reading an entire design book cover to cover, re-create some of the examples.
In fact, many of the best books will have exercises, assignments, and challenges to go with them. Do all of these tasks and keep your learning active rather than passive.
=> Create a learning schedule for yourself
Create a learning schedule for yourself that consists of at least 2 hours a day, 5 days a week of work or study. Ideally, you should put in 4 hours a day, but that may not be realistic for most people.
Set yourself some goals. For example, if you are learning graphic design, you can set the goals of:
Week 1: Understand all the tools on the Photoshop toolbar.
Week 2: Fix three family photos, including color adjustments and wrinkle removal.
Week 3: Create three different types of special effects.
Week 4: Make an awesome movie poster for an imaginary movie.
Having a learning schedule will help motivate and guide you. It will help you learn with a purpose, rather than without a goal.
By following these tips, you will quickly go from beginner to advanced-intermediate. You will know enough about the ability to start receiving moderate amounts of money.
